Device Failsafe Utility (or Device Firmware Upgrade)

:)

The device failsafe utility
(or Device firmware upgrade as someone says),
better known as DFU
it's a failsafe basic (and quite trivial) bootloader
present on the iPhone.
This is the weak point of the iPhone 2G and
hopefully 3G.
This post maybe means nothing to you,
but before anyone will say I copied/robbed anything
just remember you read it here first.
I will not release anything tomorrow.
And I strongly suggest
not to upgrade itunes nor the iPhone.

Stay tuned.

iPhone tethering easy and safe

Created by marcoxyz 10 weeks ago: "iPhoneModem.app provides the easiest and safest way to use your iPhone as a modem to connect you to the internet. Despite the the unsafe connection bewteen your Mac and your iPhone your data are safe because all communication between both devices are encrypted by SSH. Everybody who does not want to use the terminal but need the option to work with your provided flatrate like you can do with other cell phones, too. iPhoneModem works with all jail broken iPhones 2G and 3G over EDGE and UMTS. have..."

U Can't Touch This.

Posted by on under new ipod touch, mc hammer, hammertime, t touch, wafer, 2g, insight, jobs |

â??U Canâ??t Touch Thisâ?? were the words of the great MC Hammer in 1990, but we just couldnâ??t wait to â??touch itâ?? as soon as the new slinky wafer-thin iPod was unveiled by Father Jobs a week ago.

We are especially eager to experiment with this device because the n72ap in the new iPod Touch 2G may give us insight into upcoming iPhones.

So a few hours ago the large truck backed into the DevTeam warehouse where the crate of iPod touch?ŠÂ devices were dropped off and we started the very earliest stages of investigation (which means fun!) ;-)

We wonâ??t have more to say unless thereâ??s more to say. Hammertime!

Porting to iPhone 3G and iPod touch

Posted by planetbeing on under linux kernel, simultaneous projects, boot menu, iphone, nand, ftl, 2g, iphe, ipod touch, hey guys, 3g, few days, resolve, peoe, linux |

Hey guys,

The lack of updates for the past few days is because many of you decided to visit us in IRC, thus enabling work to be done on porting openiboot to the iPod touch and the iPhone 3G (in particular because I don't have an iPod touch at the moment).

I'm pleased to report that everything now seems to be working on the iPhone 2G and the iPhone 3G (albeit NOR read/write on the iPhone 3G is unoptimized and is unacceptably slow). There is apparently an outstanding issue with the NAND ECC on some (?) iPod touchs, and also some people can't seem to actually install openiboot to NOR on both iPhone 2G and iPod touch. Unfortunately, the problem is that these things happen on devices that I don't have physical access to, and IRC is often a frustrating medium for communicating with testers. I'm confident these issues will be resolved soon, though.

So, current simultaneous projects:

1. Resolve openiboot porting issues
2. Implement poorlad's boot menu
3. Work on write support for FTL

After at least one of those things are done, we'll be working on the Linux kernel.

O2 is a nightmare

Posted by on under iphe, angry customers, mths, phe, mobile device, 2g, o2, nightmare, fortune, united kingdom |

The mobile phone company O2 in United Kingdom is not treating its best customers, the iPhone 3G already owners like it should. The cut the story short, if you want an iPhone 3GS, it's around £440!!! If somebody from O2 is reading this, believe me, you will have a lot of angry customers who took the iPhone 3G 1 year ago for free after an upgrade from the iPhone 2G, and usually with an 18 months contract. So for existing O2 clients, it costs a fortune to get the beloved mobile device. O2 nightmare
