If there are two things we love here at Engadget, it's our PCs and our kicks -- that's why we were tickled when trash artist and
bon vivant Gabriel Dishaw decided to memorialize the
Nike Blazer with a sculpture rendered from an old circuit board. Titled "Nike Blazer Pentium 1.0," this is the first part of a series of classic sneakers -- and we must say, this one looks pretty good, if somewhat uncomfortable. Hit the read link to inquire about purchasing some art for yourself, but not before getting a closer look or two after the break.
[Thanks, daklar]

We've been running up and down the show floors here at
Computex over the past week, and frankly, we're a bit overwhelmed. And exhausted. But mostly just stoked about chowing down on
"fish legs" and "frog balls" at Taipei's own
Windows 7-theme eatery. We've been covering the major hits right here on our front page, but our tremendous comrades over at Engadget Chinese have been blazing trails of their own. We all know you're looking for an excuse to brush up on your Chinese anyway, so why not dig in below to catch the best of the rest from a world-class group of folks? Enjoy... er, 享受.

What, no red carpet unveiling for new desktops? It seems
HP's portability-deficient PCs have gone through a number of tweaks as of late. The Pavilion and Slimline collection ranges from Intel Celerons and AMD Semprons to Core i5s and
Phenoms. Pavilion Elites crank it up a notch further with numerous Phenom and Core i7 multi-core processors. All-in-one MS230z gets a recharge, too, but the TouchSmarts remain largely, erm, untouched since its
late April cleanup. The closest we have to a new model here is the all-in-one 200xt, which really is just a 200t with Intel's Core 2010 chips. Exact details of the upgrades are sketchy, but the real takeaway here is that you were looking into a new HP desktop, now's as good of a time as any. Full list of updated models via

Sure, you can get an eye-catching
all-in-one desktop or tower, or an especially
small form factor PC (or
Mac), but we're pretty sure there's plenty of folks just looking for a simple black box. Of course, there's not exactly any shortage of those, but Acer has now added a few more options with its new Aspire X3 and M3 series desktops, which it says are designed to be "efficient in form and function." That means each are small, but not too small, and pack the mid-range specs you'd expect, including your choice of AMD or Intel processors (Athlon II, Phenom II, Core i3 or Pentium E6600), ATI HD 5450, NVIDIA GeForce 9200 or integrated Intel graphics, up to 1TB of storage on the X3 or 640GB on the M3 and, last but not least, an illuminated blue power button that ensures the desktop "can be found even in a dark cabinet." Head on past the break for the complete press release, and look for the systems to be available at all the usual retailers immediately with a starting price of $449.99.

CWmike writes "Advanced Micro Devices on Tuesday announced inexpensive desktop microprocessors with up to six cores to put pricing pressure on rival Intel. AMD's new chips include the fastest AMD Phenom II X6 1075T six-core processor, which is priced 'under $250' for 1,000 units, AMD said. AMD also introduced a range of dual-core and quad-core Athlon II and Phenom II desktop microprocessors priced between $76 and $185. By comparison, Intel's cheapest six-core processor is the Core i7-970 processor, which is priced at $885 per 1,000 units, according to a price list on Intel's website."
