Two years ago I gathered some interesting stats from the DCSquares score database. Here's an updated version of those stats using the data as of today:
General Stats * Total users that have submitted a score: 457
* Total games played: 54,132
* Total squares collected: 1,564,992
* Total time spent playing: 38 days (note: scores entered through the website do not record a time, so this is actually higher)
* Average games played per user: 118
* Average number of squares collected per game: 48
* Average score per game: 30,556
* Average combo per game: 47
* Average game time: 61 seconds
* The most users that have scored the same score is 74. They all scored 1,080 points.
Players by platform * Windows: 55%
* Mac: 43%
* Linux: 2%
* Dreamcast: 0% (only 23 scores ever submitted for Dreamcast)
Hall of fame: * Highest score: Harryfronman scored 677,472 points
* Highest combo: captain collected 354 squares in a row
* Most squares: Harryfronman collected 731 squares
* Longest time: jason survived for 16:47 minutes
Hall of shame: * Lowest score: runkennyrun scored 1,000 points (scores below 1,000 are rejected)
* Shortest time: Baphmomet survived for 2.3 seconds
16 players only collected 1 square but managed to score more than 1000 points.
99% of players use the in-game score client, only 1% of scores were entered through the web.

A friend of Ohio Power Tool came up with this design and I laughed so hard I nearly feel out of my chair. The only thing to do was set up a CafePress store (http://www.cafepress.com/iheartpowertool) and stick the design on all the fun stuff they sell for anyone who wants one. Unfortunately, as it was pointed out by Jason on twitter, only 4 of the products are made in USA and one of them is a lady’s thong. There are plenty of styles and colors, check it out for yourself. But I think it’s pretty obvious your girlfriend/wife wants an I Heart Power Tools tee shirt.

MySpace seems to be on a bit of a hiring spree. Over the past few months the social network
hired Mark Rosenbaum as Chief Financial Officer,
Alex Maghen as CTO (he was formerly CTO of MySpace Music), former AOL and Tsavo exec
Mike Macadaan as VP Product, and former Facebook Director Katie Geminder as SVP of User Experience and Design. Now MySpace has recruited a product manager from LinkedIn,
Christina Wodtke, to be the general manager of social. Wodtke was previously a Principal Product Manager at LinkedIn and ran the activity stream (which recently got a little
Twitter-happy), communication products, and the events application. She also built the search and marketplace design team at Yahoo, and helped to redesign search, shopping and local products. Wodtke will fall under the purview of chief product officer
Jason Hirschhorn.

TechCrunch agrees with Cory's (and Jason Calacanis') predictions from last week: Murdoch is about to sign an exclusivity deal with an also-ran search engine. (There was more at the Graun.) Mike Arrington, however, suggests this will succeed in hurting Google....

You know how we love a good knockoff at Engadget. Well,
the PXP 2000 isn't the greatest
KIRF we've ever seen -- especially considering that it's a "PSP Go" that plays NES games (and pretty badly at that). It is, however, one of the most caring and detailed unboxings we've seen in a really long time. In the nearly 15-minute video (which we've included after the break), the young gentleman host proves himself to be a talented and fairly entertaining chap. Be sure to watch the video all the way through -- you'll get to see some Super Mario Brothers action as well as the PXP's super fantastic
iPhone camera icon. Also, someone who we can only describe as Jason Voorhees-esque makes a guest appearance about halfway in. Hit the read link for the whole, wild ride.
[Thanks, Nightwheel]
