* Discard or give away any ornaments or decoration you don’t love.
* The trend again this year seems to be themes of colors with gold but mostly silver. Pick up an accent color from your home and continue this theme for your holiday decor. For example, if your cushions on your sofa are green, look [...]

Here's something new to be scared of -- showerheads spraying out bacteria linked to pulmonary disease. According to this article from MSNBC, 20% of 45 showerheads tested in five states sprayed water which contained Mycobacterium avium, which can pose a health threat to people with weakened immune systems. Researchers at the University of Colorado, Boulder, discovered presence of the bacteria at levels 100 times the amount found in the municipal water sources. Relax, says Newsweek, the ...

This 1962 high-school textbook, "When You Marry," is a long, mind-bendingly awful manual for marriage, including sticking to traditional gender roles, staying away from race-mixing, resisting communism and saving yourself for your wedding night. Love, 1962 American High School Style (via Making Light)...

This week's Escape Pod podcast story is Madeline Ashby's βoyfriend, a marvellous, sweetly romantic science fiction story about teenagers who use clever artificial intelligences as "training wheels" on the way to their first real love, but who quickly find themselves substituting the warm companionship of their imaginary friends for the confusing and fraught people around them. It's got Ashby's sly humor, heart and it's got clever to spare. I bought Madeline's first published story for Tesseracts 11 and it's wonderful to see where she's gone since. It could be argued that Sony Ericsson owes the world some love after it built up its
last event only to introduce
a single, solitary A2DP headset, but we might finally get what's coming to us in just a few days' time. It looks like November 3 is the date SE has chosen to unleash the first volley in its Android strategy on the world, likely the
XPERIA X3 (or
X10, or whatever the heck they decide to call it) with that wild
Rachael UI that we've been tracking for a few months. How do we know? Well, it does line up with the latest and greatest rumors -- but more importantly, digging into the event page's HTML source reveals several mentions of Rachael by name, so... yeah, that's pretty much a lock. Should the unannounced
Dragon and
Sholes /
Droid both be shaking in their boots already?
